cnvrt.tools is a free, client-side file conversion tool designed with privacy as a core principle. Your files are processed locally in your browser and never leave your device.

🔒 Your Files & Data

  • No File Uploads: All file conversion happens locally in your browser using WebAssembly and JavaScript (FFmpeg/document libraries with custom logic)
  • Zero File Storage: Your files never leave your device and are not transmitted to any servers
  • No Personal Data Collection: We don't collect names, emails, or any personal information
  • Browser-Only Processing: Conversion libraries are downloaded and cached locally for offline use

📊 Anonymous Data Collection

To improve the service and monitor for issues, we collect limited anonymous data when privacy mode is disabled:

Usage Analytics (Umami)

  • What: Page views, conversion counts, general usage patterns
  • Cookies: None - cookieless analytics
  • IP Address: Not stored or logged
  • Purpose: Understand which features are used and general traffic patterns

Error Tracking (Sentry)

  • What: JavaScript errors, conversion failures, browser compatibility issues
  • Data: Error messages, browser info, file types (not file contents)
  • Self-Hosted: Error data is sent to our self-hosted instance, not third-party services
  • Purpose: Fix bugs and improve compatibility across browsers

🛡️ Privacy Mode

You have complete control over data collection through our privacy toggle:

  • Green Lock (Privacy ON): No analytics or error tracking - fully offline after initial load
  • Gray Lock (Privacy OFF): Anonymous analytics and error tracking enabled
  • Default: Privacy mode is OFF by default, but easily toggled at any time
  • Persistent: Your privacy preference is saved locally and remembered across visits

🌐 Third-Party Services

  • CDN Loading: Conversion libraries (FFmpeg WebAssembly) are loaded from CDNs on first use
  • Offline Capability: After initial load, the app works completely offline
  • No External Tracking: We don't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or other third-party trackers

📍 Data Location

  • Analytics: Processed on our self-hosted Umami instance
  • Error Tracking: Stored on our self-hosted Bugsink instance (Sentry-compatible)
  • Geographic Location: Servers hosted in data centers with appropriate security measures
  • Retention: Analytics and error data is retained for service improvement and is periodically cleaned

cnvrt.tools is a free, browser-based file conversion service that processes files locally on your device. We provide access to conversion libraries and tools but do not process, store, or have access to your files.

  • Personal & Commercial Use: Free to use for any lawful purpose
  • No Restrictions: Convert any files you own or have permission to process
  • Respect Browser Limits: File sizes and processing capabilities depend on your device and browser

No Warranties

  • Service provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
  • No guarantee of conversion accuracy, quality, or success
  • Browser compatibility and performance may vary

Non-Destructive by Design

  • Original files remain unchanged on your device
  • We only generate new files based on your input
  • No data is modified, transmitted, or stored externally

Third-Party Dependencies

  • Relies on FFmpeg WebAssembly and document processing libraries
  • Conversion capabilities depend on these underlying technologies
  • We don't control or warrant third-party library functionality

🚫 Limitation of Liability

We are not liable for:

  • Any data loss, corruption, or conversion errors
  • Device performance issues or browser crashes
  • Incompatibility with specific file formats or browsers
  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

🔄 Service Availability

  • Best Effort: We strive to keep the service available but make no uptime guarantees
  • Maintenance: Service may be temporarily unavailable for updates or maintenance
  • Offline Capability: Core functionality works offline after initial library loading

📝 Changes to Terms

We may update these terms occasionally. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of new terms. Major changes will be clearly communicated.

  • Self-Hosted Analytics: We use our own Umami instance for analytics (not Google Analytics)
  • Self-Hosted Error Tracking: Errors are tracked via our own Bugsink instance (Sentry-compatible)
  • No Hidden Tracking: Privacy mode completely disables all external requests after initial load
  • Source Available: The privacy controls and data collection practices can be inspected in the browser
